The City of South Perth has successfully secured funding from the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme to procure outdoor furniture for the Manning Community Hub.

The City will financially match the $17,750 grant, with funding going towards outdoor seating that will fuse urban and organic styles, while creating a welcoming and inclusive central ‘pedestrian street’.

The City’s Manning Community Hub facility is a multi-million dollar major project, that will establish a new 'heart' for Manning, providing the community with a vibrant, connected and attractive precinct integrating community services and social activities. It includes the relocation of the Manning Library, a community hall, Manning Child Health Clinic, Moorditj Keila Aboriginal Group, a sporting clubroom to house the Manning Rippers Football Club and Perth Blitz Gridiron Club, an early years’ centre that will be the home of the Manning Toy Library and a new Manning Playgroup association.

“Surrounded by facilities and services that cater for specific ages, cultural groups and interests, the Hub’s outdoor public space will be where people come together.  The new facility is eagerly anticipated and will be an asset for the community,” Mayor Sue Doherty said.

“The presence of design features and activities that reflect the diverse needs and interests of the Manning and surrounding communities means that everyone feels at home in the space, from teenagers to older people, families and other visitors. The space will accommodate small groups wanting to chat and relax and provide a sense of connection with the greenery of the surrounding suburb.”

“In securing the Stronger Communities Programme grant from the Federal Government, the City would like to acknowledge and thank the Federal Member for Swan, Steve Irons MP for his support.

Construction of the Manning Community Hub is expected to be completed at the end of 2016, with the facility opening to the public in early 2017.
