Local Planning Strategy

The City’s Local Planning Strategy was adopted in February 2021 and sets the strategic direction for planning and development for the City over the next 10 to 15 years. 

Local Planning Scheme

Local Planning Scheme No. 7 sets out the zoning of land, permissible land uses, the scale of development and other important information relating to building and development standards across the City of South Perth.

Local Planning Policies

The City’s Planning Policies supplement the Town Planning Scheme and provide guidelines as to development permitted in the City.

Precinct Plans

The City delivers a range of strategic planning projects to enhance our public spaces and create vibrant local centres.

Local Development Plans

R-Codes and Residential Design Guidelines form the basis for controlling residential development in a consistent manner.

Local Heritage

The City maintains a Local Heritage Inventory with the aim of conserving buildings and sites which have a cultural heritage significance.

Payment in Lieu of Parking Plan

Payment in lieu of parking is an option available for non-residential development proposals where there is a parking shortfall to the City’s minimum non-residential car parking requirements of at least two car bays.

Subdivision & Amalgamation

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is responsible for approving all subdivision and amalgamation applications in Western Australia.
