The City of South Perth today marked a milestone in major projects when PACT Construction Pty Ltd., together with the City’s Mayor Sue Doherty, elected members and CEO Cliff Frewing, turned the first soil for the construction of the highly anticipated Manning Community Hub facility.

The tender for development was awarded to PACT Construction Pty early in May this year. As one of Western Australia’s leading building and project management companies, they were selected for their focus on delivering an environmentally sustainable development.

The Manning Community Hub is a multi million dollar project that aims to create a new ‘heart’ for Manning and provide the community with a vibrant, connected and attractive precinct that integrates community services and social activities.

Included in the facility will be the relocated Manning Library, a community hall, Manning Child Health Clinic, Moorditj Keila Aboriginal Group, a sporting clubroom to house the Manning Rippers Football Club and an early years’ centre that will become the homes of both the Manning Toy Library and a new Manning Playgroup.

Located between Bradshaw Crescent and Conochie Avenue in Manning, the new facility adjoins James Miller Oval and is centrally located close to the Welwyn Avenue shops, the Manning Senior Citizen Centre and Manning Primary School.

City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said, “The turning of soil is an enormous milestone in celebrating what will be a fantastic development, something our community has been highly involved with from the very beginning.  It is heartening to know construction of the Manning Community Hub Facility is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.”

“We look forward to the opportunities the facility will bring to all residents in the City, in particular those in the Manning area and how the community will have access to a quality venue which will house a range of groups and services.”
