News Update 5 April 2023
LPS7

At the Council Meeting held on 28 March 2023, the City of South Perth Council resolved to support draft Local Planning Scheme No. 7, subject to modifications.

The modifications, address matters raised by stakeholders and community in submissions received by the City during the project’s three month engagement period.

Draft LPS 7 along with Council’s recommendation and stakeholders and community submissions will now be forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The WAPC will consider the Council’s recommendations before the Minister for Planning determines draft LPS 7.

Draft LPS 7 will implement and deliver on the objectives of the Local Planning Strategy and create a modern planning framework for the City.

The new planning scheme will provide for the continued growth of our City, offer opportunities to build our economy and support business growth and employment and have a specific focus on protecting our urban tree canopy.

This has been a major project for the City and one that has spanned over five years. The City would like to thank all those who made a submission or attended a draft LPS 7 engagement event.

Council Meeting minutes and an audio recording of the meeting are available on the City’s website.
