Roads and Footpath Works
Road works are coordinated so as to minimise disruptions to residents, motorists and pedestrians. For example, road works located near residential areas are carried out mostly in the day, and road works near schools and busy roads are scheduled for non-peak hours.
Work on the City’s roads, footpaths and verges can be carried out by a number of different service providers. In general, the City manages the local roads within the local government area and the main, State controlled roads are managed by Main Roads WA.
Roads are condition-rated against a range of criteria to determine the need for, and timing of, preventative or remedial action to prevent loss of service. The ratings address factors such as structure, surface cracking, ride-ability, age and predicted increases in traffic volumes and vehicle classifications.

Civic Heart construction set to commence
The Civic Heart development in South Perth is commencing construction in early January 2021 and will take approximately three years to complete.
Road Rehabilitation Works - Coode St, South Perth
The City will be undertaking road rehabilitation work on Coode Street between Walters Street and South Terrace, South Perth commencing 25 January 2021.
Road works - Abjornson St, Manning
The City will be upgrading the existing slow point to a new speed plateau at Abjornson St, between Henley St and Gillon St, Manning commencing Monday 18 January 2021.
Erosion control works underway in South Perth
Main Roads WA has advised that large scale erosion control works are now underway to the groynes area of the Swan River near Kwinana Freeway in South Perth.
Road closures for the arrival of heritage tram
Road closures and detours will be implemented on Mill Point Road (west bound) between Onslow Street and Mends Street on Sunday 27 September between 4am and 12pm for the delivery of the Ferry Tram.
