Kensington Project Area

Background

Underground power is coming to the Kensington and Waterford Triangle areas through the Network Renewal Undergrounding Program Pilot (NRUPP) Tranche 2, bringing the last sections of the City’s power connections underground. The NRUPP replaces overhead power lines with underground power infrastructure in areas selected by Western Power. The Program is carried out by Western Power in partnership with local government and is expected to commence in the final quarter of 2025.

What you can expect

Property owners will be required to contribute to this upgrade and these costs will be outlined in your 2025/26 Rates Notice. Various payment options will be available. Before construction begins and at the key stages of the project, Western Power’s appointed contractor will notify residents of the planned works.
