Kensington Project Area
Background
Underground power is coming to the Kensington and Waterford
Triangle areas through the Network Renewal Undergrounding Program
Pilot (NRUPP) Tranche 2, bringing the last sections of the City’s power connections
underground. The NRUPP replaces overhead power lines with underground power
infrastructure in areas selected by Western Power. The Program is carried out
by Western Power in partnership with local government and is expected to commence in the
final quarter of 2025.
What you can expect
Property owners will be required to contribute to this upgrade and these costs will be outlined in your 2025/26 Rates Notice. Various payment options will be available. Residents will receive more information as the project progresses.

Before construction begins and at the key stages of the project, Western Power’s appointed contractor will notify residents of the planned works.
