Road rehabilitation works
Every year the City identifies roads within our community that are in need of rehabilitation, including repairs to the road surface and surrounding infrastructure, in order to prevent any further deterioration and avoid costly repairs in the future.
The road works can include:
- Road resurfacing (with asphalt)
- Kerb replacement
- Drainage structure upgrades
- Minor footpath upgrades.

Footpath replacement program – Monk Street in Kensington
Footpath replacement works will soon commence on Monk Street in Kensington as part of the City’s 2026/27 Slab Replacement Program.
Exciting changes coming to Moresby Street
Work has begun on upgrading the Moresby Street precinct in Kensington to include more alfresco dining space, new bench seating and shade trees outside the Moresby Street shops and Hall.

On Monday 13 April 2026, footpath replacement works will begin on McDonald Street, South Perth, as part of the City’s 2025/26 Slab Replacement Program.
Footpath replacement works - Karawara Laneways between Boongala Close and Kardan Circuit
From 23 March 2026, footpath replacement works will begin in the Karawara laneways, between Boongala Close and Kardan Circuit. They will be carried out over four weeks.

From Monday 9 March 2026, a new pedestrian zebra crossing to be installed at the intersection of Anstey and Angelo Streets.

On Monday 23 February, the City will begin resurfacing works at Anstey Street Car Park, near the South Perth Senior Citizens Centre.

Annual cleaning of stormwater litter traps - Kwinana Freeway (Manning Road to Narrows Bridge)
On Sunday 15 February, drainage maintenance night works will commence on the northbound lane of Kwinana Freeway, between Manning Road and Narrows Bridge, as part of the City and Main Roads WA drainage maintenance program.

On Monday 23 February, road rehabilitation works will be undertaken in the right of way (ROW) off Alston Avenue, Como.

On Monday 2 February 2026, footpath replacement works will take place on South Perth Esplanade, between Frasers Lane and Queen Street, as part of the City’s 2025/26 Slab Replacement Program.
Pedestrian safety improvements - intersection of Anstey and Angelo Streets
The City is pleased to announce the upcoming construction of a new pedestrian zebra crossing at the intersection of Anstey and Angelo Streets, South Perth. Works are scheduled to commence late January 2026 and will be completed by February 2026.
Road rehabilitation works - Manning Road (westbound) between Drogheda Way and Waterford Avenue
On Monday 17 November, the City will begin road rehabilitation works on Manning Road, Waterford, between Drogheda Way and Waterford Avenue. Works will be carried out at night and take approximately three weeks.
Safety upgrade for Dyson Street and Canning Highway intersection
The City of South Perth will improve safety at the high-risk Dyson Street and Canning Highway intersection, with $225,000 funded by Main Roads WA’s Black Spot Program.
Road rehabilitation - Dyson Street, Elderfield Road and Jackson Road
This month, the City will begin several road resurfacing projects including on Dyson Street, Elderfield Road and Jackson Road.
Festive lighting installation works on Angelo Street
The City will install festive lighting on Angelo Street’s median strip from 24–28 August 2025. Works will occur overnight with lane closures and noise controls to minimise disruption.
Weed Control Treatment Program 2025
The City will be commencing its annual Weed Control Treatment Program in July 2025 to control a range of weeds along the roads, kerbs, and road reserve footpaths to ensure these areas in the City remain at a high level of presentation and amenity for the community.
