Community Advisory Groups

The City has a variety of community advisory groups that members of the community can be involved in. These groups are a great way for you to provide advice and input into your local government.
Nominations are called every two years and participation is voluntary/unpaid. All positions are currently filled. Subscribe to our mySnapshot enewsletter to be the first to know when nominations are open.
Arts Advisory Group
The Arts Advisory Group (AAG) provides specialist advice and recommendations on City and private developer public art projects, the management of the City’s collection of art and public art and relevant arts and cultural projects and programs.
Members must be a local resident or local business owner, be eligible/enrolled to vote in the City of South Perth local government elections and have an interest and knowledge in public art.
The AAG generally meets from 4pm-6pm on the first Thursday of the month, approximately 4-6 times per year.
Inclusive Community Advisory Group
The Inclusive Community Advisory Group (ICAG) is responsible for the oversight of the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan.
Members must be a local resident who are electors of the district or industry representatives and have an interest and knowledge in the following areas:
- disability services
- culturally and linguistically diverse services
- homelessness services
- LGBTQI+ services.
The ICAG meets from 12–1:30pm on the third Wednesday on the months of February, May, August and November.
Public Health Advisory Group
The Public Health Advisory Group (PHAG) is responsible for providing advice on public health issues in line with the City’s draft Public Health Plan.
Health professionals working within the City and community members with a personal interest in health promotion are encouraged to be involved. The PHP broadly covers the areas of:
- Promote – foster strong and connected communities and healthierenvironments
- Prevent – reduce the burden of chronic disease, communicabledisease, and injury
- Protect – protect againstpublic and environmentalhealth risks, effectivelymanageemergencies, reduceimpacts of disaster, and lessenimpactsof climate change
- Enable – bolster public health systems andworkforce and leverage partnerships to supporthealth and wellbeing
The PHAG meets quarterly on the third Monday of the month from 4–5.30pm in February, May, August, and November.
Community Safety and Crime Prevention Group
The City facilitates a Community Safety and Crime Prevention Group (CSCPG) with representation from key government agencies and the local community. Members include Kensington Police, Curtin University, Village Green, the Member for South Perth, the Department of Housing and Works and other key partners. The group ensures community safety has a well-rounded approach and carries out a number of community safety initiatives and projects that are determined by the actions in the four priority areas of the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Implementation Plan:
- Promote home safety awareness
- Reduce levels of theft of possessions from motor vehicles
- Address levels of anti-social behaviour
- Increase road safety.
The groups meet quarterly in February, May, August and November.
Urban Greening Advisory Group
Members must be eligible/enrolled to vote in the City of South Perth local government elections and have an interest in influencing the City’s future urban greening.
Meetings are held quarterly.
