Dog registration
You can register your dog online. If you have a mySouthPerth account, please sign in prior to registering your pet.
You will need to provide the following documentation during the registration process:
- proof of microchipping
- proof of registration with other local government (if applicable)
- proof of sterilisation (if applicable)
- proof of pension card (if applicable).

Registration renewals
Before you pay your registration renewal, check your details are up to date.
Transferring pet registrations from another local government
To transfer your animal’s registration from another local government within Western Australia, please complete the relevant registration via the link below.
You’ll need to provide evidence of your current registration details when filling out the Animal Details section of the registration. The City will transfer the remaining registration term. For example, if your pet’s registration is for one or three years, the expiry date will stay the same as it was with your previous local government. Lifetime registrations will also be retained.
Responsible dog ownership
The City encourages responsible dog ownership. Being a responsible dog owner means ensuring your dog is:
- registered with the City
- microchipped
- trained, healthy, safe and well cared for
- not creating a nuisance to other members of your community by barking or howling; and
- not wandering the streets unrestrained.
The Dog Act 1976 contains provisions about the keeping and control of dogs. You can submit an Application to keep more than two dogs online.
