Evolve expands reach to all creatives

Registrations are open for Evolve, the City of South Perth’s annual series of arts, skills and culture workshops. 

Running throughout August, the Evolve program has expanded this year to appeal to a diverse audience of creatives, with exciting, low cost sessions for children, adults and seniors alike. 

Last year’s workshops had the highest number of attendees in Evolve’s five-year history, with 87 per cent of attendees saying they would use the skills they’d learned outside the workshop, and 93 per cent saying the workshops were good value for money. 

The Evolve program creates opportunities for the community to learn from some of the State's most talented and experienced practicing artists. It’s a unique chance to get hands-on and receive practical and theoretical advice from industry leaders and experts.

This year’s workshops are affordable and diverse, and include floral design with international award winning floral designer Matthew Landers’ Academy, fashion illustration with Michelle Pike, puppet making for kids with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and much more. 

City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty is a strong supporter of the arts and is pleased to see the wide range of options in this year’s calendar. 

“The Evolve series has always been popular with our residents and this year has even more to offer,” Mayor Doherty said. 

“We’re planning to carry last year’s momentum forward with our great schedule in 2019. 

“Bringing people together to explore their artistic skills and connect on a creative level is another way the City can enable our community to come together and make new skills and friends.

“I’m looking forward to seeing children get involved this year and hope our seniors also get crafty with some of these great sessions.  Whatever your age, creativity is a special way to find out what hidden talents we all have.”
