Temporary solar lighting installed at Sir James Mitchell Park
The City has installed temporary solar-powered lighting along the foreshore at Sir James Mitchell Park following persistent vandalism of the existing bollard lights. Ongoing damage has created safety risks, increased maintenance costs and reduced amenity across the park and foreshore.
The new solar units provide a low-cost, low-impact solution with adjustable lighting levels, glare reduction and spill-light control to suit the environmentally sensitive setting.
All lighting poles have now been installed. However, not all light heads are currently available, and these will be fitted as stock becomes available.
The temporary system can be easily removed or relocated to support upcoming works, including the various Sir James Mitchell Park enhancements starting in early 2026.
