Get involved in the City’s annual tree planting day

News Update 18 June 2025
The City of South Perth invites community members to join its annual winter tree planting event at Elderfield Wetlands, Salter Point on Sunday, 27 July 2025 — held in celebration of National Tree Day, Australia’s largest community-led tree planting initiative.

This year, we’re aiming to plant over 10,000 native seedlings, including sedges and rushes, to enhance the ecological health of this vital wetland. These plants play a key role in improving water quality and supporting local biodiversity — including the 74 species of birds that call Elderfield Wetlands home.

Whether you're a local resident, a keen conservationist, or just looking for a fun and rewarding day out, we encourage you to bring your family, friends or colleagues and help make a difference.

What’s provided: gloves, tools, and a free sausage sizzle and light refreshments

What to bring: hat, water bottle, and closed-in shoes.

Registrations are essential – sign up online to secure your spot and help us grow a greener future.
