Celebrate International Women's Day at Manning Library

Event 28 February 2024

In celebration of International Women's Day and its theme of "inspiring inclusion," the City of South Perth Libraries invite you to a special Words with Wine event with authors Julia Lawrinson and Brooke Dunnell. Lawrinson, an award-winning writer known for her captivating stories for children and young adults, and Dunnell, a rising literary talent recognized for her evocative short fiction, will share insights into their latest works and creative processes.

Set to take place on Wednesday 6 March 2024, from 5.30 to 7pm at the Manning Library, this event offers attendees a unique opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine while engaging with the authors in an intimate setting. Lawrinson's diverse background, including experiences in the arts, parliament, and health sectors, enriches her storytelling, while Dunnell's fresh perspective as a recent recipient of the Fogarty Literary Award promises an evening of thought-provoking conversation.

The event is free to attend, but bookings are essential. Doors open at 5.15pm, attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottle, mug, or keep cup for tea/coffee and water, in line with efforts to reduce waste. While Lawrinson's and Dunnell's latest books will be available for pre-order, previous titles will also be on sale during the event, providing attendees with the opportunity to delve into the authors' extensive literary repertoires.

As International Women's Day approaches, the Words with Wine event serves as a fitting tribute to the theme of "inspiring inclusion," highlighting the talents of Lawrinson and Dunnell and celebrating their contributions to the literary world. Don't miss this chance to connect with two remarkable authors and be inspired by their stories of creativity, resilience, and empowerment.
