Enjoy a glass of wine as authors Julia Lawrinson and Brooke Dunnell chat about their new books in this Words with Wine that celebrates this year's International Women's Day theme of "inspiring inclusion".

About the Author

Julia Lawrinson

Julia Lawrinson

Julia Lawrinson is an award-winning writer of books for children and young adults. She hails from Perth and, despite leaving school at 15, has a PhD in writing and a Bachelor of Laws with distinction. Julia has worked in a range of organisations, from the arts to parliament to health. She has presented at schools, workshops and conferences across Australia, and in Singapore, Indonesia and the USA, and loves meeting her audience and encouraging reading, learning and curiosity. Her books are about friendship, family and the occasional Jack Russell. She loves the ocean, reading, dog parks and the word serendipity.

 

Brooke Dunnell

Brooke Dunnell

Brooke Dunnell is a writer, mentor and workshop facilitator. Her short fiction has been widely published, including in the short story collection Female(s and) Dogs, which was a finalist for the 2020 Carmel Bird Digital Literary Award and shortlisted for the 2021 Woollahra Digital Literary Award. The unpublished manuscript for The Glass House was the winner of the 2021 Fogarty Literary Award. Brooke has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Western Australia and lives in Boorloo (Perth) with her husband and two dogs.

 

About Words with Wine

Enjoy a glass of wine while listening to a speaker talk about their work. This event usually features authors who will share some information about their writing process, how and why they came to write their featured prose or poetry and they may share some interesting or entertaining related trivia. This event series is designed to spotlight a blend of established and emerging authors.

  • Doors open at 5.15pm - no need to print your ticket, there will be an attendance list at the door.
  • To help reduce waste, please bring your own water bottle, mug or keep cup for tea/coffee and water.

The authors latest books will be available for pre order however previous titles will be available for purchase on the night.
