Mends Street, South Perth

Come for the Christmas shopping, stay for the restaurants, bars and famous city skyline views. A wander down Mends Street will not disappoint when it comes to presents and festive goods, with plenty of time left to enjoy dinner or a celebratory drink.

For a truly one-stop gift buying experience, Merchants on Mends Street is the place to be. Described as a boutique department store, you will find homewares, jewellery, kitchenware and quirky gifts like themed games and novelty trinkets. Continue along Mends Street Arcade to find the popular South Perth Cycles and fashion boutiques including Mariko, Motion Lifestyle, Decjuba and Sportscraft, plus hair and beauty salons selling luxurious gifts and vouchers.

Don’t forget to cross Mends Street and visit the South Shore Centre for more gift shopping inspiration. Pick up a gift voucher for a massage or nail treatment, or collect your Christmas florals from Annie’s Florist.

Welwyn Avenue, Manning

After a recent facelift and the opening of Manning Laneway, Welwyn Avenue is looking better than ever. This shopping precinct might be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in heart, with unique independently owned businesses that have stood the test of time.

The always bustling O’Brien’s Clothing Co specialise in women’s clothing and have a great range of gifts lined up just in time for Christmas. The friendly team at R & J Butchers will have your BBQ sorted with zero fuss, and Manning IGA and Manning Fresh have what you need to fill the Christmas table. For sweet treats you simply must try the new Brot Bakery – also home to excellent coffee.

After moving into a much larger space in the new Manning Laneway, Bahn Mee Café is proving to be an even bigger hit with locals. We suggest grabbing a table here after Christmas shopping to wind down and enjoy a bite to eat.

Preston Street, Como

Preston Street in Como is full of history and charm. Home to Perth's most photographed cinema, the 1938 art deco Cygnet Cinema, along with boutique restaurants and cafes waiting to be discovered. Preston Street is a great spot for your end of year celebrations.

Settle in with a coffee and sweet treat at the much-loved Fiend Merchants or give the new local, Kopi Seru, a try. For a longer sit-down meal, Juniper & Bay and the Karalee on Preston are among the many excellent choices along Preston Street. You could even pick up a gift voucher while you are there and treat someone you love to a top-notch dining experience.

Another local favourite is Studio Skin and Beauty at the top of Preston Street. Specialising in skin rejuvenation treatments, brow and lash remedies and massage, this salon is ideal for a bit of pre-Christmas indulgence.

Waterford Plaza, Karawara

You will feel festive from the moment you set foot in Waterford Plaza, with their Christmas lights looking extra impressive this year. Keep an eye out for a photo opportunity with light-up Rudolph alongside the outdoor cafes and restaurants.

There are over 60 specialty stores at Waterford Plaza to help you find everything you need for Christmas in one place. The Front Door Gifts and Décor stock a unique collection of decorations and trim for your tree, along with gifts, books and clothing. Be sure to visit their pop up shop, The Front Door Indoor Plants, across the other side of the centre while you are there.

Once you’re done shopping, take some time to unwind with traditional Chinese massage at Joy of Health or a visit to Beautee Hive. Local barber R1 Barbers will have you looking and feeling your best ahead of Christmas festivities, or grab a gift voucher for that family member who says they don’t need a thing.

Angelo Street, South Perth

A visit to leafy Angelo Street will make gift shopping a breeze with its unique mix of independently owned gift shops and boutiques. Plant nursery and gift store Garden Affair is brimming with gifts for the green thumb in your life and don’t be surprised if you leave with something new for your own garden. Continue up the street and stop by Luxe Gift and Décor for a beautiful selection of homewares to suit any taste. You will also find a great range of children’s gifts and stocking fillers.

The friendly faces at fashion stores including Helena’s Boutique and Labels Boutique are on hand to help you find the perfect festive outfit, or visit Soklich & Co. Jewellers for something extra special. Angelo Street Market is an easy choice for your cheese and antipasto, and also stock beautifully packaged food gifts. For the main event of you Christmas table, family-owned Olsen Butchers will have you sorted.
