For the duration of the 2025 Perth Festival, we welcome Karla Bidi to the South Perth Foreshore - as beacons of light stretch along the river from the hills to the sea, welcoming you to join us and be part of something extraordinary.

Inspired by the Noongar tradition of lighting fires to greet and guide visitors, Karla Bidi, meaning Fire Trail, transforms the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) into a stunning, illuminated pathway.

Each beacon is a campfire, a glowing symbol of welcome, warmth, safety and inclusivity.

Sir James Mitchell Park will host one of the eleven beacons throughout the festival from 7 February to 2 March – head down to the foreshore to experience the unique light sculpture and soundscape up close, or view the installation from afar.
