‘Surveying the Land at Sunset and Dusk’ on show at Box Gallery Manning

News Update 3 December 2025

Step closer and explore Perth artist Matt McVeigh’s work Surveying the Land at Sunset and Dusk, now on display at Box Gallery Manning.

Using ink, paint, ochre and digital illustration on Washi paper, McVeigh layers fine mesh, linear grids and dot patterns to explore how we measure and experience place, labour and light.

Each panel captures a slice of the horizon with soft yellows and pinks fading into rich reds, oranges and indigos, echoing the gentle transition from late afternoon to dusk. The grids and overlays suggest maps and topographical lines but, in his work, they take on a subtle, poetic rhythm.

This exhibition invites viewers to notice the interplay between industry and atmosphere, measuring and feeling.
