The Coode Street riverbank foreshore, near the Boatshed Restaurant, is once again safe and fully accessible following emergency repair works.

Severe weather on Wednesday 23 July 2025 brought heavy rainfall across the Perth metropolitan area, with South Perth recording 71 millimetres. The resulting overland runoff caused significant erosion to the riverbank near Coode Street.

The area was cordoned off early Thursday for public safety, and emergency repairs commenced Friday 25 July. Crews stabilised the site using clean river sand and reused suitable on-site materials, with care taken to minimise environmental impact. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) was notified of the works, which are now complete.

Longer-term restoration will be supported through a federal Urban Rivers and Catchment Program (URCP) grant awarded to the City and DBCA. The project will establish a vegetated buffer of native sedges and rushes to help stabilise the riverbank. As part of this program, the area between the Boatshed Restaurant and the foreshore has been identified for future stabilisation and protective works.
