New term program for little learners at our libraries

Library 30 January 2025
Libraries Features
An exciting new Early Childhood program term will begin at Manning and South Perth libraries on Monday 10 February, with a range of engaging sessions for children under five.

Designed to help develop early language and literacy and provide a fun environment for children to learn social skills, the Term One program will see the introduction of Gentle Sensory Storytime. The inclusive session will run on the first Tuesday of every month and is designed especially for children aged 2-5 with sensory sensitivities.

This unique story time offers a calm, welcoming environment where children can engage with stories, songs, and hands-on activities that are gentle on the senses.

Featuring soft lighting, tactile materials, and interactive elements, it’s a fun and soothing experience that encourages children to explore and enjoy the world of books and language at their own pace.

The new term program will see the return of popular sessions including Story Time, Rhyme Time, Toddler Time and Play Time.

Additionally, a new Rhymes on Video project is launching and will provide 70 videos of library staff singing and performing the actions for favourite songs from the Early Childhood program.

The videos will soon be available on YouTube and through the Open Public Access Catalogue. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
