Celebrate International Day of People with Disability
International Day of People with Disability on 3 December is a great opportunity to promote inclusion and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability.
Here are few ways you can mark the day in the City of South Perth:
1. Dance with Me
Join Para and Ability Dance Western Australia at Mends Street Jetty for this not-to-be-missed event showcasing the incredible talent of dancers with disability. There will even be a chance for you to put on your dancing shoes and get involved with a group lesson.
You can also learn more about this local organisation and the great support they provide to achieve an all-inclusive, safe environment for dancers, family members and friends.
The one-hour free event will be held on 29 November at 5.30pm. For more information, visit our website.
2. Manning Tennis Club Top Spinners
This wonderful local club is always looking for ways for people to get involved with its wheelchair tennis program, including its Breaking Barriers community event series. This includes a singles, adaptive doubles, and movement challenges.
For more information on upcoming events, visit the Manning Tennis Club website.
3. Read our Access and Inclusion Plan
The City is actively creating a place where all people feel welcome and where the diverse needs and aspirations of all people are respected equally, as outlined in its first Access and Inclusion Plan 2022-2027 (AIP) which can be found on our website. The AIP is also available in Braille and Easy Read formats. Braille copies are at the South Perth or Manning libraries, while an Easy Read version can be viewed at the Civic Centre reception or online.
