Take part in the 2023 Aussie Bird Count!

News Update 18 September 2023
All bird lovers, twitchers and budding ornithologists are invited to take part in one of Australia’s biggest citizen science events – the Aussie Bird Count.

All you need is twenty minutes to join in this nation-wide event, which helps Birdlife Australia monitor local bird populations and biodiversity trends.

Last year 289,740 people from Western Australia took part in the count, recording 3.9 million birds of different species.

Getting involved this year is easy! Find a spot anywhere outside – the backyard, the bus stop or your favourite park bench – note any birds you see, then submit your findings via the Aussie Bird Count website or app.

This year’s count takes place during National Bird Week, between 16-22 October, and anyone can join in on the fun. Register and download the app at aussiebirdcount.org.au
