As part of the 2022/23 Capital Works Program, the City will be undertaking road resurfacing works on Kent St (northbound) between Beazley Ave and Jackson Rd, Karawara. The construction works will take place on Monday 23 January, Tuesday 24 January and Sunday 29 January 2023.
Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties will be impacted during these resurfacing works.
The works are scheduled at night to avoid major disruption to high-volume daytime traffic on Kent St. Works are scheduled between the hours of 7pm and 6am during the above mentioned dates. There will be no construction works during the 26 January public holiday.
Temporary road closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and construction personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work site.
The works will generate noise that may cause some disruptions to adjacent properties. To minimise disturbance to residents, an out-of-hours Noise Management Plan has been prepared by the head contractor, Asphaltech, and approved by the City of South Perth.
Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive. The City appreciates your support and cooperation during these works. Please contact the City’s after-hours number on 9474 0777 if there are any urgent issues during construction.
