Library experience gives Charlotte workplace inspiration
Taking on a work experience role at the South Perth Library has given one young student a valuable opportunity to discover a vocation that may further her love of books.
Charlotte has been working at the South Perth Library once a week during Term 4 through a partnership between the City and Cannington Community Education Support Centre, which is part of the City's Inclusive Community Advisory Group.
The group advises the City to help improve access and inclusiveness of the community. Providing opportunities for employment is also a key focus of the City's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (2017-2021).
Charlotte’s work experience duties have involved shelving library returns and preparing craft activities for our Time for Stories program. She has also observed several sessions of Time for Stories and gained an insight into the daily tasks undertaken at our busy library.
Through the Cannington Community Education Support Centre partnership, the City's nursery at the Operations Centre in Como has also welcomed students for work experience.
