NAIDOC Week 2022 celebrations

News Update 13 July 2022

This year's NAIDOC Week (3-10 July) celebrations brought our community together for art, culture and stories, with a talk by WA Women's Hall of Fame inductee Amanda Healy among the highlights.

As well as Amanda's inspiring presentation about her journey from the mining industry to high-end Aboriginal fashion design, the week began with a fantastic Welcome to Country by Joe Collard at the City's official Flag Raising Ceremony.

Mayor Greg Milner was joined by the Member for Swan Zaneta Mascarenhas and Member for South Perth Geoff Baker, along with representatives from the WA Police and the City's Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.

Young people also showed their creativity at our craft workshops and skateboard design session, Deadly Decks, while families enjoyed Storytime sessions.

These free NAIDOC Week events were provided to bring people together to honour the local Aboriginal community and acknowledge the culture of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Thanks to the Department of Communities for our partnership with Mentally Healthy WA to promote the Act Belong Commit campaign.
