Mini roundabout funding to improve safety on Axford Street, Como

The City will install a series of mini roundabouts along Axford Street in Como after receiving more than $80,000 in funding through the Main Roads WA Low-Cost Urban Road Safety Program.

The grant aims to support local governments across the metropolitan area to deliver innovative low-cost solutions within existing road parameters to help reduce the risk of accidents and improve safety on local roads.

Mini roundabouts will be installed at the following intersections:

• Axford Street and Ryrie Avenue
• Axford Street and Thelma Street
• Axford Street and Brittain Street
• Axford Street and Cale Street

Construction works are expected to occur throughout June 2022, with the project fully funded by Main Roads WA.

Residents were recently contacted by the City about the work, which involve installation of a concrete circular island, signage and markings. No kerb modifications will be required.
