In accordance with the 2021/22 Capital Works Program, the City will be undertaking road rehabilitation works at Gwenyfred Road, between George Street and Rathay Street, Kensington.
Construction works are scheduled to commence on 16 March 2022 and will take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete. Works will be confined to the hours of 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
Resurfacing works (laying new asphalt) is expected to take place on two occasions. Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties may be impacted.
Temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work site.
The works may involve the removal and replacement of minor kerbing. If you have reticulation on the kerb line it will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox advising once your reticulation has been re-instated. We request that you test your system within two weeks of the notice. If issues present, please notify the City as soon as possible. After this period, the City will not take responsibility for repairs.
Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive. The City appreciates your support and cooperation during these works, our staff and contractors will make every effort to reduce any inconvenience.
