Hurlingham Playground expansion

News Update 14 January 2022
Parks and Reserve works

The playground on South Perth Foreshore near Hurlingham Road will be expanded in 2022. New play equipment will integrate with the existing playground to provide an inclusive and welcoming play space for children of all abilities to play and interact together.

The new equipment will include a ramp providing access for children with mobility needs, an accessible swing and a range of opportunities for cognitive, physical and social development.

The current equipment and sandpit will remain and most of the new equipment will be located under the existing shade sails.

Have your say

We’d like to hear your thoughts on the proposed new equipment. Visit yoursay.southperth.wa.gov.au to tell us your thoughts.

There will be a drop-in information session on site at the playground on Saturday 12 February between 9am and 11am.

Background

In March 2021, the City replaced ageing play equipment at the playground. Following community feedback on the new equipment, specifically regarding the lack of universally accessible play equipment, Council endorsed the development of a design and cost estimate to install an all abilities accessible and inclusive playground at the site.

Installation of the new equipment is scheduled for winter 2022 following community engagement.

Help us shape the Coode Street Foreshore

The vision for this area is to develop a better serviced family recreational space with improved facilities, a choice of food and beverage outlets, and a diversity of activities including an all ages and abilities playground, rowing, sailing, boat mooring, and water play.
