Road Rehabilitation Works - Barker Ave, South Perth

Road Works

In accordance with the 2021/22 Capital Works Program, the City will be undertaking road rehabilitation works on Barker Avenue between Talbot Avenue and Canning Highway, South Perth. Construction works are scheduled to commence on 6 January 2022 

The works will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The works are scheduled at night to avoid major disruption to local businesses and high-volume daytime traffic on Barker Avenue and Canning Highway. Works are scheduled between 7pm and 5am Monday to Friday. 

Work activities and noise management 

Activities taking place at night include:

  • Minor kerbing and footpath upgrades

  • Drainage infrastructure upgrades

  • Milling of existing road surfacing

  • Road resurfacing with new asphalt.

Construction equipment and vehicle movements may create noise for adjacent residents. To ensure effective noise control, an out-of-hours Noise Management Plan has been prepared by the head contractor, West Coast Profilers Civil, and approved by the City of South Perth. 

Traffic management 

Temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work site.

Reticulation 

The works may involve the removal and replacement of minor kerbing. If you have reticulation on the kerb line it will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox upon reinstatement of your reticulation.  We request that you test their systems within a two-week period of receipt of the notice. If an issue presents, notify the City as soon as possible. After this period, the City may not take responsibility for repairs.
Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive. The City appreciates your support and cooperation during these works, our staff and contractors will make every effort to reduce any inconvenience.
