Foreshore Recycling Bin Trial

News Update 25 August 2021
Recycling

The City has commenced a trial of recycling bins at the South Perth Foreshore.

We all know that recycling helps reduce waste to landfill, but when it is contaminated by food, liquids or items that can’t be recycled, this prevents the entire contents of the bin from being recycled. That’s why putting the right stuff in the right bin is important.

During the trial, bins will be lined with clear plastic to make it easier for us to check what’s inside. Don’t worry, the contents will be emptied before being sent for recycling.

We all want to do the right thing, so please help us make the trial a success by placing only recyclable items in these bins.

  • Yes | glass, cans, plastic (no lids), clean paper, clean cardboard.
  • No | coffee cups, nappies, plastic bags, food or liquids, pizza boxes or food containers.

Bins are located at Mindeerup, the Boatshed and Coode Street playground. If the trial is a success, the City hopes to roll it out to other public spaces.
