Online directory improves access to local services

The City of South Perth is making it easier for residents to find and connect with local services and community organisations online through its partnership with My Community Directory.  The new City of South Perth Community Directory is a free online resource that provides up-to-date information about sporting groups, clubs, health services and community groups, all in one place.

The City’s partnership allows local sporting clubs, community groups and other not-for-profit organisations to claim a My Community Directory listing and promote their activities and services online free of charge. A number of listings have been added automatically and organisations are encouraged to visit the City of South Perth Community Directory to check and update their listing. 

My Community Directory is available as an app, making it even easier to find local information.  

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner encouraged the community to make the most of the service.

“The City of South Perth is blessed with an abundance of wonderful sporting clubs, community groups and not-for-profit organisations, all doing fantastic work to benefit our community. However, it can sometimes be difficult for people, particularly new residents, to find the groups, clubs and services that are right for them.

 “The City of South Perth Community Directory brings together valuable information usually found scattered across hundreds of different websites, posters and community noticeboards. It will not only reduce the frustration of searching for localised information, but provide community groups with more options to promote themselves online.  

 “Effectively managing an online presence can be a difficult task for anyone, let alone not-for-profit groups run by volunteers. The City of South Perth Community Directory is a win-win for our community – it’s an amazing resource for our residents, and it’s an ideal solution for groups looking to ensure that the people who are interested in their services can find and connect with them.”    

My Community Directory has been developed as an initiative of the Community Information Support Services - a not-for-profit social enterprise established to support the health and well-being of Australians through the use of community information.
