Cocker Spaniel Emmy helps with Old Mill restoration project

News Update 14 October 2020
It’s been all hands (and paws) on deck as the City restores the landmark Old Mill in South Perth. The major restoration project will conserve and protect the historical value of the 185 year old flour mill for future generations.

As part of pest inspection works, the City enlisted the help of termite detection dog, Emmy, who is trained to sniff out destructive pests in difficult to reach places. Emmy set to work on Tuesday 13 October, sniffing her way through the mill and neighbouring cottage.

With the pest inspection now complete, the City will continue with stone work repairs before the building is repainted in limewash and new sails installed.

The newly restored Old Mill will be open towards the end of the year.
