With Winter just around the corner, dust off your knitting needles and help support people in need, by knitting beanies for Soroptimist International of South Perth.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said the City is pleased to be supporting this community project, helping people in need during the cooler months.

“The City is providing wool and beanie patterns for those who would like to help out. If you know your way around a pair of knitting needles and have time to spare, I encourage you to support this great cause. It may even be a fun activity to enjoy with the kids and grandkids, teaching a new generation how to knit.”

“Soroptimist International of South Perth has been providing beanies and other knitted goods to vulnerable people for the last nine years. Last year they distributed over 700 beanies to agencies delivering services directly to the homeless of all ages around Perth, which is an outstanding effort,” Mayor Milner said.

South Perth Libraries are also working with a number of charities to provide blankets, clothing and knitted toys for people in need as part of the Knitter Natter program.
