Trial sees buses travel direct to Manning Hub

A new bus route is being trialled with Transperth’s Route 30 bus now dropping passengers directly at Manning Community Hub.

Seven buses make the deviation from Monday to Friday – four from Curtin University and three from Perth Busport – removing the 1.4km walk from the next closest bus stop on Marsh Avenue. All but one bus operates off peak, which enables seniors to enjoy free travel to and from the hub. 

The altered route will be trialled for 12 months.

The City strongly encouraged and advocated for Transperth to consider re-directing this route to ensure the Manning Community Hub was accessible via public transport, given the walk can be challenging for many seniors, adults with prams and people with other mobility difficulties accessing the services at the centre. 

The Manning Community Hub provides services including the Manning Library, a community hall, Manning Child Health Clinic, Moorditj Keila Aboriginal Group, a sporting clubroom for Manning Rippers Football Club and an early years’ centre. 

Under the new trial, the 30 bus now turns left from Marsh Ave onto Griffin Crescent, before making a right on to Duckett Drive and stopping directly in front of the Manning Community Hub. 

The bus then turns back on to Marsh Avenue from Conochie Crescent and continues its usual journey through Griffin Crescent to Elderfield Road.

Buses make a similar journey in the opposite direction but continue straight on to Griffin Crescent and Duckett Drive from Elderfield Road, rather than turning on to Marsh Avenue.
