Is artificial turf allowed on ratepayer verges?
Yes, however only in certain circumstances. This treatment requires a written application to the City and must not be installed prior to receiving written approval by the City.
Does the council have any plans to review its existing policy?
The City’s policies are reviewed periodically and changed as required.
Anecdotally does the council receive many queries and/or requests from ratepayers about using artificial turf on verges?
Occasionally the City receives enquiries about the use of synthetic turf on verges. There is not a huge volume of requests. The City provides guidelines for residents on the use of synthetic turf, in its Street Verge Landscape Guidelines.
