Angelo Street Marketplace returns to celebrate South Perth

Media Release 8 March 2018
Angelo Street Marketplace
Transforming the streets of South Perth on Sunday 25 March the ever-popular Angelo Street Marketplace returns with an array of music and fashion talent and unique curated arts experiences.

This year, over 80 stalls will line the strip between Strickland Street and Waverley Street, accompanying the diverse selection of restaurants and retail traders who call Angelo Street home. It’s an opportunity to explore everything this fabulous event has to offer and sample a selection of gourmet food from some of Perth’s best food trucks.

The Little Bar Cart offers a place to rest your weary shopping feet and enjoy a cold beverage or have a delicious bite to eat at the WA Housing Centre Long Table. Search for exciting activations hidden down the laneways and follow the Art Walk, a showcase of temporary and permanent works from talented Perth artists Rebecca Corps, Tim Keevil, Mel McVee and Jarrad Martyn.

A family-friendly program jam-packed with giant games and interactive workshops will keep the young ones entertained on the Community Stage hosted by the effervescent Famous Sharron. While on the 96fm Main Stage you’ll discover up-and-coming fashion and musical talents.

The South Perth Senior Citizens Centre will once again host the popular Gopher Muster contest from 9.30am-12pm with seniors competing in time trial heats to take out the title of 'Champion Driver'. There are prizes to be won, including the best decorated Gopher.

With so much to see and do, this exciting cultural experience for the whole family is not to be missed. Join the City’s Facebook event page for a showcase of stallholders and updates on the entertainment program.

“This annual event has a great feel about it and is a vibrant community celebration that encourages people to wander the stalls along Angelo Street, explore the fashion, crafts and sample what South Perth has to offer,” City of South Perth Mayor, Sue Doherty said.

“Now in its eighth year, Angelo Street Marketplace continues to grow with even more stallholders and activities for all ages. It’s simply a wonderful day that showcases the City of South Perth and the unique retailers and businesses that call Angelo Street home and make this street such a drawcard for residents and visitors.”
