Have your say on the City’s Local Planning Strategy

Media Release 15 January 2018
Local Planning Strategy

The City of South Perth is preparing a Local Planning Strategy to guide the growth and development of the City for the next 10 to 15 years.

The Strategy aims to provide a framework to inform decision making on strategic planning matters as the City works towards the development of a new Local Planning Scheme. To do this, the Strategy will consider all relevant Regional and State Planning Policies, Strategies and documents directly related to the City including PerthandPeel@3.5million.

The City is now seeking feedback from the community and all stakeholders via the online engagement portal yoursay.southperth.wa.gov.au and a series of information workshops.

Fact sheets have been produced by the City to assist stakeholders in understanding the key topics that influence and are influenced by planning. These topics will be fundamental to the development of the Strategy and include;

  • Activity centres, employment, tourism and entertainment
  • Community facilities and heritage
  • Population and housing
  • Sustainability and public open spaces
  • Transport and access.

“This Local Planning Strategy is a high-level document is a key component in helping the City to achieve objectives of our Strategic Community Plan 2017-2027,” City of South Perth Mayor, Sue Doherty said.

“We are seeking feedback so we can clearly understand the community’s priorities for the future planning of the City. Everyone who lives in, works in or visits the City of South Perth is invited to contribute towards the shaping the City’s future by completing the survey on yoursay.southperth.wa.gov.au and by coming along to a one or all of our Local Planning Strategy information workshops.

“Feedback received during this phase will help to refine and inform key considerations for the Strategy.”

Visit yoursay.southperth.wa.gov.au to provide your feedback and to register to attend workshops. You are welcome to attend any or all of the workshop sessions. Feedback closes 4pm, Monday 5 March 2018.
