Be part of the City’s arts, events and culture programme in 2018

Media Release 28 September 2017

Each year, the City of South Perth aims to present an accessible programme of high quality, free and low cost events and arts activities which involve and celebrate our culture, community and spaces whilst delivering unique experiences for all to enjoy.

The City is inviting expressions of interest from visual and performing artists, event organisers, community groups and businesses who would like to be part of the City’s arts, events and culture programme, running from February to April 2018.

Throughout the season, the City will present its iconic summer concert held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay on 24 February 2018 and the ever popular Angelo Street Marketplace on 25 March 2018. Other key events will include a concert for seniors, temporary public art installations, children’s theatre, and the return of ‘Find Me’ activities popping up in unexpected places across the City.

Emerging and experienced artists interested in developing works of temporary public art are invited to apply for a unique commission which celebrates the passage of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay through South Perth and responds to the themes relevant to the nature and spirit of the Games. Through this programme, the City will also support activities presented by external organisations and individuals, offering an opportunity to connect with the community, showcase their talent and align themselves with the City.

To be considered, all events and activities must be held within the City of South Perth and be high quality, inclusive and accessible to the community.

EOIs for February - April 2018 Events and Temporary and Ephemeral Public Art for Queen’s Baton Relay Celebrations are now open and will close 27 October 2017.

EOI’s for Angelo Street Marketplace including Artwalk will open on 20 October 2017 and will close 8 January 2018.

The City is also calling for businesses that value creativity, innovative thinking, culture and community development. An exciting opportunity exists to showcase these distinctive characteristics by partnering with the City’s major events through a number of sponsorship options

As a sponsor, businesses will play a highly visible role in supporting cultural initiatives that will deliver memorable experiences to the community and attract visitors to the City of South Perth.
