Angelo Street Marketplace celebrates South Perth

Media Release 3 March 2017
Angelo Street Marketplace

The Angelo Street Marketplace will transform the streets of South Perth on Sunday 26 March with an array of music and fashion talent, exciting activations hidden in the laneways and unique curated arts experiences.

This popular annual event is a community celebration which encourages people to wander the stalls along Angelo Street and explore the fashion, crafts, household goods and gourmet food on offer.

Pop-up bars, pampering, and interactive entertainment will also make a big impact, contributing to an exciting cultural experience for the whole family and visitors to the City.

Artwalk, a showcase of the work of artists and creatives, features Filthy Luker’s thought provoking inflatable installations which have come all the way from the United Kingdom. Performance artist and puppeteer Chloe Flockhart’s interactive artwork ‘Please Feed the Bear’ will be roaming the crowd and keep your eyes peeled for art activations by mural artist Jahne Rees and Como Secondary College art students.

A range of activities including charcoal drawing classes, flower crown making, mandala stone painting, sand art and dream catcher making will be on offer for the community to try.

Local Angelo Street bar Hopscotch will open up an extended trading area and pop-up venues including The Champagne Cart and Beer Dudes will cater to those in need of refreshment.

In the Pamper Tent people can take part in make-up workshops, hair braiding and adorn themselves in metallic and henna tattoos.

The Lifetime Dental Main Stage will be a showcase for fashion parades by Model Camp Australia and Kent Street Senior High School, plus live entertainment from up and coming musicians including Em Gel, Jordan Anthony and Tye Thompson.

On the Discus Community Stage Fringe World artist Pierre Ulric Mysteries presents entertainment to audiences with his enthralling magic show. The stage will also play host to fitness performances from Step into Life, Jungle Body and Fireflight Yoga as well as community performances from South Perth Lions Club Youth Jazz Band, South Perth Primary and the WA Performance School with their show ‘Activate’.

The South Perth Senior Citizens Centre once again hosts the popular Gopher Muster contest from 9am-1pm. With seniors competing in time trial heats to take out the title of 'Champion Driver'. There are various prizes to be won, including the best decorated Gopher. The event includes BBQ sausage sizzle, bacon and egg rolls and Devonshire tea for a gold coin donation.
