HouseholdHazardousWasteCollectionDay2024

We're holding a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday 6 July 2024.

Residents can safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals and hazardous materials for free at our drive-in-and-drop-off event between 9am and 1pm. Proof of residency will be required upon entry.

Household hazardous waste will be collected, sorted and tested by Cleanaway on the day.

Any commercial quantities of hazardous waste will be refused at the discretion of the City.

Acceptable items:

We will accept up to 20L or 20kg each of the following items per vehicle on the day:

  • Aerosols
  • Engine Coolant & Glycols
  • Household Chemicals
  • Batteries (Alkaline/ Lithium)
  • Gas Cylinders
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Paints & Solvents
  • Poisons & Pesticides
  • Flammables (Liquids/ Solids)
  • Smoke detectors
  • Flares
  • Inorganic Oxidising Agents (pool chlorine)
  • Acids (Excluding Hydrofluoric)
  • Alkali liquids
  • Toxics
  • Heavy metals (e.g. mercury)

By safely disposing of household hazardous waste, we prevent toxic chemicals from leaching into soil and contaminating our groundwater, which is our source of drinking water.

Event details:

This drive-in-and-drop-off event will be running from 9am to 1pm at the Bill Grayden Reserve carpark, between Murray and Thelma Street (enter from Murray Street) in Como.

Staff will assist in unloading items as residents remain in their vehicles.

Prior to transporting your waste, please ensure items are in a safe condition and poison containers are not corroded.

Can't make it on the day?

Dispose your household hazardous waste items at Ranford Road Resource Recovery and Waste Transfer Station, located at 81 Ranford Rd in Canning Vale. Disposal is free for both residents and non-residents.
