Alcohol Consumption or Sale in a City Facility or Reserve
If an event or function is being organised where alcohol will be available within a City of South Perth facility or reserve, you will need to obtain the appropriate liquor licence.
There are three types of licences to be considered. Two are issued by the City of South Perth and the third requires an application to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Liquor Consumption Licence (issued by City of South Perth)
A consumptions license is applicable if you are:
- Supplying all the alcohol at no charge to your guests; or
- Allowing guest to BYO alcohol. In other words you are not selling alcohol; or charging an entry fee that includes the alcohol; or holding an exhibition where products are for sale or being displayed.
If the above applies to your function or event, you are required to apply for a Liquor Consumption Licence, which attracts a small fee (see ‘Fees and Charges Schedule’). To apply for this licence, please indicate ‘alcohol consumption’ on your booking application form and submit it to the City for processing.
Small Function Occasional Liquor Licence (issued by City of South Perth)
Small functions that are selling alcohol or holding exhibitions where products are for sale or being displayed can now obtain a Permission to Consume Liquor in a Public Place providing the function fits the following conditions:
- Maximum attendance is 75 people or less with the function duration being no more than four hours and finishing before 10pm, with no more than four standard drinks per person (or one standard drink per hour)
- Maximum attendance is 100 people or less with the function duration being no more than two hours and finishes before 10pm, with no more than two standard drinks per person (or one standard drink per hour).
If the above applies to your function or event, you are required to apply for a Liquor Consumption Licence, which attracts a small fee (see ‘Fees and Charges Schedule’). To apply for this licence, please indicate ‘alcohol consumption’ on your booking application form and submit it to the City for processing.
Occasional Liquor Licence (issued by Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries)
An Occasional Liquor Licence is applicable to your event or function if you are selling alcohol or including alcohol as part of the entry fee or where goods are being sold.
To apply for an Occasional Liquor Licence you will need to apply in writing to the City of South Perth for ‘in principle’ support. The written request must include the following information:
