Smart Return Shelves Now Available at South Perth Library

South Perth Library has introduced a practical and efficient upgrade to its services with the installation of smart return shelves. Located in front of where the returns chute used to be, these shelves are designed to streamline the process of returning library items, making it quicker and more convenient for patrons.

The shelves feature a sleek black finish and use advanced scanning technology to manage returns digitally. Patrons can simply place their items upright in any cubicle, and the system will process the return. The returned item will appear on the shelf screen, and the item will be marked as returned in the user’s library account.

The smart shelves are accessible to all, with the lowest shelves placed at ground level to accommodate patrons with mobility or height restrictions.

Key Information:

• Items must be placed vertically for the scanning system to recognise them.
• Oversized items cannot be returned using the shelves and should be taken to staff for assistance.
• The shelves are available during staffed hours only.
