Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, meet new people, and develop new skills.

The City of South Perth engages volunteers across a range of activities, such as planting trees, youth events and delivering books.

Refreshed approach to volunteer recognition

News Update 23 July 2024

After reviewing its volunteer programs and events, the City of South Perth will be refreshing its approach to recognising volunteers and the important work they do.

With a goal to connect volunteers with more education, training, and work opportunities year-round, the City has also joined peak body Volunteering WA. Membership offers more links for community members to local volunteer opportunities, while promoting the benefits of volunteering.

This refreshed approach has also meant that the annual Volunteer of the Year Awards has concluded. However, the community can still nominate exceptional volunteers for an award at the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Nominations open 1 August and more information can be found at the Community Citizen of the Year Awards website.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for news updates to discover the exciting series of education and networking sessions being planned to commence in early 2025. Topics will include how to apply for grant funding, recruitment and retention of volunteers, and more.
