Help keep our foreshore safe this New Year’s Eve
The City of South Perth is NOT hosting a New Year’s Eve event on the foreshore this year, and facilities will be limited for large crowds.
If you’re heading out to celebrate, the City of Perth is hosting a range of New Year’s Eve activities at Elizabeth Quay and other locations across the city.
Plan a safe and respectful visit
If you do choose to visit the South Perth foreshore, please help keep the area safe and enjoyable for everyone. Consider walking, cycling, ride-share or carpooling to reduce congestion (and make sure to allow for some extra travel time), respect the natural environment, be mindful of wildlife and nearby residents, dispose of rubbish responsibly and follow all parking and traffic directions.
Safety measures
Higher visitor numbers are expected at Sir James Mitchell Park. To support community safety, the City will have a range of measures in place, including traffic management, signage, additional public toilets, lighting, rubbish bins and Ranger patrols.
Road closures
Temporary road closures are planned on Wednesday 31 December between 6pm and 1am at:
- Coode Street and Mill Point Road intersection
- Mends Street and South Perth Esplanade intersection
Please note closure times may change on the night depending on traffic conditions. Main Roads WA will also temporarily close the Kwinana Freeway ramps at the Mill Point Road intersection, and WA Police will be patrolling the foreshore.
Pet owners are encouraged to plan ahead, with advice available from the RSPCA.
Before you travel, check the City’s website and the Main Roads WA website for the latest information on road closures and traffic changes.
