Frequently Asked Questions
What is being done to reduce the impacts of the road works?
Some of the measures that are taken include:
- Development and implementation of both a Traffic Management Plan and a Noise Management Plan.
- Traffic detours to help road users navigate through road closures.
- Use of Variable Message Boards to communicate the nature of the road closures and notify residents/patrons of alternative access routes.
- Working with property and business owners to minimise the disruption and impact on access to their properties and/or businesses, depending on the nature of the works.
How will the traffic be managed during the road works?
Temporary road closures and detours will be in place during the road works. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, please speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work area. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area.
Will I be able to access my property during the road works?
Access to your property during the works may be limited at certain times, particularly whilst asphalt is being laid. The contractor will notify affected residents by letter 48 hours before the asphalt works take place and traffic management will be in place to assist access in and around the work area. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can impact the new road surface, cause delays to the works, damage vehicles and crossovers and is also a safety risk.
What if my reticulation is damaged during the road and/or kerbing works?
When road works involve the removal and replacement of kerbing, any reticulation on the kerb line will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. Upon completion of the works, the reticulation will be reinstated. Please test your reticulation within two weeks and notify the City as soon as possible if there are any issues.
