Old Mill guides and Click: Be Connected volunteers needed
The City of South Perth Libraries is reaching out to the community, calling for volunteers to assist at the Old Mill and for the Click: Be Connected digital literacy program.
The Old Mill, one of Western Australia's oldest heritage sites, is cherished for its historical significance. To ensure its continued accessibility to the public, the City of South Perth Libraries is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join as Old Mill guides. Volunteers will be scheduled monthly on either a Saturday or Sunday, from 1-4pm. Responsibilities include opening and closing the premises, warmly welcoming visitors, addressing inquiries, and recording visitor numbers. While no specialised knowledge is necessary, effective communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences are highly valued. Prospective volunteers should be 18 years or older.
For those passionate about digital literacy and technology, the Click: Be Connected program offers an excellent opportunity to make a difference. Volunteers are sought to assist with Be Connected sessions, where they will help individuals develop essential digital skills and navigate online resources. Candidates for this role should be confident in technology, skilled in assisting others to develop computing skills, and possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Whether it's preserving local heritage or fostering digital inclusion, volunteering with the City of South Perth Libraries provides a chance to make a meaningful impact within the community. Those interested in becoming an Old Mill guide or joining the Click: Be Connected program are encouraged to reach out for further information. To inquire about volunteering at the Old Mill or with Click: Be Connected sessions, individuals can contact the City of South Perth Libraries via email or by calling 9474 0800.
Joining forces as volunteers not only enriches personal experiences but also strengthens the fabric of community engagement. By contributing time and skills, volunteers contribute to the vibrant tapestry of South Perth, ensuring its cultural heritage and digital literacy initiatives thrive for generations to come.
