Million Paws Walk on Sunday 28 May 2023
The RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk community event returns to Sir James Mitchell Park on Sunday 28 May 2023.
The event starts at 10.30am and will run until approximately 2pm. The aim of the event is to help raise funds in aid of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming thousands of animals across the state. The City is partnering with the RSPCA to support this event.
Where will the event occur?
The Million Paws Walk will be located on Sir James Mitchel Park to the right-hand side of Douglas Avenue.
How will the traffic and parking be managed?
There will be no road closures in place, however traffic marshals will assist with traffic from Mill Point Rd into Sir James Mitchell Park.
The Swan River shared path between Coode St and Ellam St will be temporarily closed during event set-up (Saturday 3.30-7.30pm) and during the event itself (Sunday 6.30am-2pm). A temporary detour for cyclists will be provided.
Volunteer parking attendants will assist with parking around the event site. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are urged to follow signage and traffic control to ensure everyone's safety.
How will noise be managed?
A noise management plan has been developed for the event. There will be some noise generated from this event, mainly through PA announcements and on-stage music. An audio technician will be on-site to manage the PA system.
How will rubbish be managed?
Arrangements have been made to supply additional rubbish bins at the event site to ensure event attendees have adequate bins to dispose their rubbish correctly. A clean-up of the event site will also occur after the event.
Will there be extra toilets at this event?
Yes, arrangements have been made to supply additional temporary public toilets at the site to ensure event attendees have adequate toilets, including universal access toilets.
