Road Rehabilitation Works - Goss Av between Manning Rd and Burnett Rd

Public Notice 27 March 2023
Road Works

As part of the 2022/23 Capital Works Program, the City will be undertaking road rehabilitation works on Goss Avenue between Manning Road and Burnett Road, Manning. Construction works are scheduled to begin the week commencing 11 April 2023 and will take approximately 3 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Road works

The road works will primarily involve rehabilitating the existing road surface. The City will also be installing a speed hump at the entry of Goss Avenue, from Manning Road and a raised intersection plateau at the intersection of Goss Avenue and Pether Road to improve safety within the area. Additional civil works such as replacing sections of kerb and pram ramps and the installation of a new vehicle access path into George Burnett Park will also take place during the construction period.

Resurfacing works are scheduled to take place on two occasions during the works period. Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties will be impacted during these resurfacing works.

Working hours and traffic management

Construction works are scheduled between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, although it may be necessary to carry out some activities outside of these hours, including Saturdays.

Temporary road closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and construction personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while works are in progress, please speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work site. During construction on-street parking within the works area will also be prohibited.

Reticulation

The works will involve the removal and replacement of some lengths of roadside kerbing. If you have reticulation on an affected kerb line it may be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox advising once your reticulation has been reinstated. Please test your system within two weeks of the notice. If issues present, please notify the City as soon as possible. The City is responsible for all reinstatement works and will not accept responsibility or provide reimbursement for other repairs or reinstatements carried out by third parties.

Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive, and the City appreciates your support and cooperation.
