Road Rehabilitation Works - Henley St between Canning Hwy and Ley St

Public Notice 8 December 2022
Road Works

As part of the 2022/23 Capital Works Program, the City is undertaking road rehabilitation works on Henley Street, between Canning Highway and Ley Street, Como. Construction works are scheduled to start the week commencing 8 January 2023 and will take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Works will be conducted at night between 7pm and 6am to avoid major disruption of high-volume day-time traffic along this street.

Road resurfacing

Resurfacing works (laying new asphalt) are expected to take place on two occasions. These works are scheduled for 8-9 January and 20-22 January 2023. Please note that these dates may change in the event of unsuitable weather or other factors outside of the City’s control.

Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties may be impacted.

Traffic management

Temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers who will direct you through the work site.

Noise management

Equipment and vehicle movements may create noise disturbance for adjacent residents. To minimise this, contractors will follow an out-of-hours Noise Management Plan that has been prepared by the head contractor, Asphaltech, and approved by the City.

Reticulation

The works may involve the removal and replacement of some kerbing. Affected residents will have the reticulation on the kerb line temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox advising once your reticulation has been reinstated. We request that you test your system within two weeks of the notice. If issues present, please notify the City as soon as possible. The City is responsible for all reinstatement works and will not accept responsibility or provide reimbursement for work carried out by third parties.

Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive. The City appreciates your support and cooperation during these works. Please contact the City’s after-hours number on 9474 0777 if there are any urgent issues during construction.
