Road Rehabilitation Works - Thelma Street and McDonald Street

Public Notice 19 September 2022
As part of the 2022/23 Capital Works Program the City will undertake road rehabilitation works on McDonald Street from the Thelma Street intersection (inclusive of the intersection) to the Preston Street roundabout, Como. Construction works are scheduled to start the week commencing 27 September 2022 and will take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Works will be confined to the hours of 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday, weather permitting.

Road resurfacing

Resurfacing works (the laying of new asphalt) will take place on three separate occasions. Nearby and/or affected residents will receive a further letter 48 hours prior to the laying of new asphalt. Driving on freshly laid asphalt can negatively affect the quality of the asphalt and increase the risk of bitumen sticking to car tyres. Vehicle movements in and out of some properties may be impacted.

Traffic management

Temporary lane closures and detours will be implemented to facilitate the works. For the safety of road users and personnel, please follow signage and take care when driving in the area. Should you need to enter or exit your property while the works are in progress, we ask that you speak to the traffic controllers on site who will direct you through the work site. On-street parking will be largely prohibited during the works.

Reticulation

The works may involve the removal and replacement of some kerbing. If you have reticulation on the kerb line it will be temporarily cut, capped and relocated away from the kerb. A notice will be placed in your letterbox advising once your reticulation has been re-instated.  We request that you test your system within two weeks of the notice. If issues present, please notify the City as soon as possible. The City is responsible for all reinstatement works and will not accept responsibility, or provide reimbursement, for other repairs or reinstatements carried out by third parties.

Elements of the works may unavoidably be disruptive. The City appreciates your support and cooperation during these works.
